5 Common Quakers and 5 Hebrew Characters last night brought my 2020 totals up to 13 moths and 3 species. I always think that a slow start to the year indicates good numbers later on and this has certainly been a slow start.
Drizzle / light rain for most of the evening and I packed up at 23:00 by which time seven moths of six species: two Double-striped Pug and one each March Moth, Early Grey, Dark Chestnut, Common Quaker and Emmelina monodactyla.
I found a FFY Common Quaker in my porch this morning - whether it nipped in last evening when I let the dogs out for a wee, or was left over from last Thursday night's trapping, I will never know.
13/2/20 - Prior to "Storm Dennis" coming along, and with no rain forecast (for a change), I tried a trapping session. Result? 3 Hebrew Characters, which is a bit better than nothing I suppose, but not much. Roll on warmer nights.
29th Jan - Dark Chestnut on shop window, the parade, Langport. Firethorn Leaf Miner Phyllonorycter leucographella mines on Pyracantha, Burton Close, Curry Rivel. 30th Jan - empty trap. 31st Jan - one each Dark Chestnut and Early Moth.
Trappng in my garden is likely to be even less productive as the new building site to the East of us grows - high powered security lights on all night!
