A good weekend
The weekend seems to have produced some ideal conditions with great catches and a lot of migrant activity. Particularly Saturday night (10th/11th June) where, for example, 150 species were recorded at Durlston, Dorset. 1
Portland Observatory reported that: "In muggy, overcast conditions with a gentle south-westerly breeze it was easily the busiest night of the year so far in the Obs garden moth-traps." 2
I have scanned many other group sites this morning for news of the weekend and times like this you really appreciate the efforts of people like Terry Box of Dorset and Martin Cade at Portland for streaming out latest news (not forgetting of cause our own David Evans)!
I also feel like I have dipped out on a couple of excellent nights as I have been very busy and otherwise preoccupied all weekend and only managed to stuff an actinic out in the garden on Saturday night.
1If you are not familiar with the DMG's very good website do have a look at this at: Dorset Moth Group – Latest Sightings .
2Portland Observatory run regular traps and show highlights next day on their very good website at: Portland Bird Observatory and Field Study Centre .
