Whitefield, Wiveliscombe - July 2007

What an unusual year this is proving to be here. From March to mid May our catches were excellent with many early records and then things turned very quiet and in June we sometimes had less than ten species in the trap.  July is proving better with over fifty on the better nights.  I was particularly pleased to get what I regard as a West Somerset special a Double Line. Other firsts for the year include Dun-bar, Sandy Carpet, Large Emerald, Pinion Streaked Snout, Beautiful Hook-tip, Purple Bar, Leopard, Ruby Tiger, Magpie, Broad bordered Yellow Underwing and Double Lobed.  One night we had a Cloaked Carpet with most helpfully for ID a Sharp Angled Carpet.
